These are just a few homemade beauty recipes for soap. As well as soap we also need homemade facial cleansers

A Basic Cleanser

1/2 cup oatmeal or cornmeal
plain yogurt (add enough yogurt to form a paste

This would be suitable for most people. Oatmeal is highly absorptive, hypoallergenic, and helps to soften the skin.

A Basic Homemade Toner which is good to use after you have cleansed your skin.

3 1/2 cups witch hazel
1/2 cup dried rose petals
5 sprigs of fresh rosemary

Witch hazel is a natural extract from the witch hazel plant. It gently and effectively cleanses the pores deeply to remove the last trace of dirt, oil and make up.
It leaves the skin feeling soft, moisturized and refreshed.

Rosemary stimulates the circulation of the skin and scalp. It has great toning and astringent properties. It helps clear and revitalize congested or sluggish skin.

The next area we need to look at for homemade beauty recipes is Exfoliators. This is an area you have to be careful with as creating something to abrasive is not good for the face and can cause a lot of damage to the surface epidermis for example facial spider veins.

A Gentle Homemade Facial Scrub Recipe is:

2 Tbsp. ground oats
2 tsp. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. aloe vera
1 tsp. lemon juice

This will be gentle and depending on your skin type depends on how often you do it, so for example if you have a dry skin the once a week, for an oily skin once or twice a month as you do not want to over stimulate the oil glands under the skin.

Mix all ingredients in a clean bowl until you have a smooth paste. Gently massage onto damp skin, and rinse off with warm water.

Next we have lots of options for face masks. I had particular fun with this at college and we all came into college one day with a homemade recipe and then swaped with each other , I had the strawberry and cram, but unfortuantley I had a reaction to the strawberries so do watch out that any of these recipes above will not give you an allergic reaction.

Okay the first homemade beauty recipes for face masks is:

Carrot Mask

2-3 large carrots
4 1/2 tablespoons honey
You need to cook the carrots and then mash them. Next mix with the honey. Apply gently to the skin, wait 10 minutes. Rinse off with warm water. This is suitable for normal skin types

Apple and Honey Mask

1 medium size apple (grated)
5 tablespoons of honey.
Mix the grated apple and mix with the honey to make a mask. Smooth over skin then let it absorb for 10 minutes then rinse off with warm water. This is good for an oily/ acne skin type.

Banana and Honey Mask

2 medium bananas
1 tbs honey.
Mash bananas with a fork, dont over mash or it will be too runny. Add honey. Smooth over your skin, let it absorb for 10 minutes, rinse off with warm water. This is great for a dry skin.
Now another good idea also if you like, is to have a selection of powder and liquid mask ingrediants, you can buy these online. These are not so much homemade beauty recipes but basic ingrediants to make a different type of facial mask recipe to use at home.

So the powders are:

  • Fine Oatmeal
  • Fullers Earth
  • Kaolin Powder
  • Calamine Powder
  • Magnesium Carbonate.

The liquids are:

  • Witch Hazel
  • Rose Water
  • Orange flower water
  • Eau De Cologne.
  • Almond Oil

So how to use these are as follows:

  • Noraml skin type can use all the above ingrediants apart from Fullers earth.

  • Dry skin type can use Fine Oatmeal, Magnesium Carbonate, Rose Water and Almond Oil

  • Combination skin type can use Kaolin, Orange Flower Water, Witch Hazel, Eau De Cologne.

  • Oily Skin can use Fullers Earth and Witch Hazel.

You would mix up two parts on powder and one part liquid and mix up to a paste that isn't to runny and leave on the skin for 20 minutes. If you find it is to runny add a bit more powder till you get the right consistency.

Please be careful with the fuller's earth as it is strong and will bring out impurities, so if you have a party to go yo wait till after it or do it a couple of weeks before just to give your skin time to heal. I know as I tried it and it is very strong and does dry the spots out. So I hope you have enjoyed this insight into homemade beauty recipes, and if you have some you would like to share with others, you are more than welcome to add these here.
