Manicure

A Manicure treatment is so popular with women. The french manicured look has really taken of these last few years. Having the nail tips white gives a clean crisp finish and at the same time very elegant. What happens when you go to a salon for a manicuer,  treatment well I will go through the procedure with you...helping you every step of the way... You know your hands and finger nails go through a lot of abuse like:
  • Constantly being in and out of water.
  • Being exposed to various household chemicals.
  • We tend to neglect them and  we can suffer from a lot of dryness in our hands and finger nails...
Now when you go to a salon usually you will have a few choices like a simple file and polish. Or a more luxurious manicure where the nail technician will go more in depth with your nails. During the full manicure the technician will shape your nails to what you like, take care of your cuticles giving them a tidy, exfoliate dry skin and a nice relaxing hand and arm massage. Nail polish will then be applied. I love OPI nail polish to me it is definately the best. It lasts really well and they supply a great selection of colours.

The Benefits Of Having A Manicure?

  • A regaular file and polish will encourage your nails to grow.
  • Tidying up the cuticles makes the fingers look presentable.
  • Exfoliating the hands and skin around the finger nails becomes much smoother.
  • It is relaxing and time out for yourself.
  • Finishes of your look especially when you are going somewhere special. It is much easier someone else applying your polish.
Opi polishes really last well. Seche top and base coat are the number one seller in America and they do as they say. Fast drying and this is important as we are all in a hurry these days although I have to say I am not. Intensive treatment can be applied to the nails and hands to improve the look and feel of them. A good quality base and top coat is applied to the nails ensuring the polish lasts.

Contra Indications To Manicures.

  • Cuts and abrasion and severe bruising.
  • Recent Surgery.
  • Skin infections.
  • Nail infections e.g. fungal.

What Happens When I Have A Treatment?

First of all the nail technician should discuss with you what shape you want your nails to be e.g. do you want thenm square or rounded. Then the nail is filed to the desired shape. The hand is then soaked in solution to soften the cuticles for later. Once this is done then she should file the other hand.

Once that is done this hand is then soaked in the solution to soften the cuticle. The other hand is then taken out of the water and dried. The she will tidy your cuticles as in push back gently and will trim them if necessary.

This hand and fingers are then exfoliated. The other hand is taken out of the water and dried. The other hand that has been exfoliated is rinsed and now ready for massage soon. The other hand that has just been soaked will have the cuticles tidied as in push back gently and trimmed if necessary.

This hand and fingers are exfoliated and rinsed and dried. Massage is done on both arms, hand and fingers. Your choice of polish is applied. Other Treatments For The Nails which are very popular is Acrylic Nail Extensions.

There are very popular but need to be done right...Gel nails are alos popular and are stronger than the acrylic I think... And lets not forget your feet, they go through a lot every single day we really do take then for granted, so it's looking after both hands and feet, a regular manicure and pedicure is not just a treat it is sometimes necessary as when we get older sometimes it is not so easy to do them ourself.

When I used to domanicures peopel would often comment that they felt so relaxed after the treatment and some nearly fell asleep and I mean that when you try it you will see.

After you have had your hands and nails manicured it is a good idea to keep up the good work at home in between treatments and a good hand cream is important, hands age quickly and you know yourself you want to keep them looking good for as long as you can.

There is a lot of good information here and I am definately going to have a manicure done at my local salon.

Made a mistake of someone coming to my house to do nail extensions, my nails are in a terrible mess.

I hope my local salon can help me...

Hi Sheena,

that is a shame about your nails, yes I am sure your local salon will be able to help you.

Nail extensions look good but I do believe that they are not good for your nails...seen and heard your story a lot unfortunately.

Good luck and just one thing it will take time for your nails to get back to normal, I am talking months...so keep your chin up, you will get there.
